Summer is one of the best times to experience Korea's exciting festivals. From international music events to unique mud festivals and spectacular fireworks, there is something for every traveler. I'll recommend some Korean summer festivals that you can go to during your visit!
1. Boryeong Mud Festival
Location: Daecheon Beach, Boryeong (about 2.5 hours from Seoul)
When: July 24th - August 9th, 2026 (17 days)
The Boryeong Mud Festival is Korea's most famous summer festival and attracts thousands of international visitors every year. Visitors can enjoy giant mud slides, mud wrestling, obstacle courses, live concerts, beach parties, and fireworks.
Originally created to promote Boryeong's mineral-rich mud cosmetics, it has become one of Korea's biggest global festivals.
Best for: Families, friends, and young travelers looking for a fun and unique experience.

2. Waterbomb Festival
Locations: Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, Incheon, Sokcho, and other cities
When: July-August
The Waterbomb Festival is one of Korea's hottest summer music festivals. Famous K-pop artists, hip-hop musicians, and DJs perform while thousands of people cool off by spraying each other with water guns and water cannons. Expect energetic performances, dance music, and lots of water fights.

3. Pentaport Rock Festival
Location: Songdo, Incheon
When: July 31st - August 2nd, 2026
The Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival is Korea's largest rock music festival. It features Korean and international rock bands, indie artists, food trucks, and camping areas. Even if you're not a rock fan, the festival atmosphere is worth experiencing.

4. Busan Sea Festival
Location: Haeundae Beach, Gwangalli Beach, Songjeong Beach in Busan
When: August 7th - 13th (7days)
The Busan Sea Festival celebrates summer along Busan's beautiful coastline.

5. Seoul International Fireworks Festival
Where: Alongside the Han River in Seoul

Although technically held in early autumn, many travelers planning a late-summer trip include the Seoul International Fireworks Festival in their itinerary.
Held along the Han River, the event features spectacular fireworks from Korea and several invited countries, attracting over one million spectators.
Be aware of the crowds everywhere along the river. Even subways can be delayed sometimes.
If your trip extends into September, it's well worth seeing. Oh, and it is free!
6. Summer Night Markets
As temperatures cool in the evening, Korea's night markets come alive.
Popular choices include:
